There are 125 diplomatic missions in Hong Kong, in three categories:

6 Officially Recognised Bodies
Most of the Consulates-General are located in areas on Hong Kong Island, like Sheung Wan, Central, Admiralty, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. Except that Consulates-General of Cambodia and Nepal are located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, and Consulate-General of Chile is located in Kowloon Bay.

The Consulate General of India was previously known as the Commission for India in Hong Kong. It was set up in 1951 and was re-designated as Consulate General of India on 15th October 1996, in advance of China's assumption of sovereignty over Hong Kong from the British on 1st July 1997. The Consulate General also performs consular functions in respect of Macau, which too reverted from Portuguese to Chinese administration on 20th December 1999.
